The verified badge, which WhatsApp calls a blue tick or blue checkmark, shows next to a business's name in chats, calls and its profile, so customers know they're talking to the real business. Businesses get it in one of two ways, depending on whether they use the WhatsApp Business app or the WhatsApp Business API.

Meta Verified for the WhatsApp Business app
Meta Verified is a paid monthly plan inside the WhatsApp Business app. Every plan includes the verified badge, protection against accounts pretending to be you, in-app support and a simple web page for your business. Higher plans add more linked devices (up to 10), verified badges on more WhatsApp channels and, on some, business broadcasts. Meta lists plans from $14.99 a month per WhatsApp number; prices and plans vary by country.
- 01Open WhatsApp Business and go to Tools › Meta Verified. If you don't see it, it isn't offered in your country yet.
- 02Pick a plan and pay through the App Store or Google Play.
- 03Verify your business. Meta reviews it in up to 3 business days, and you get your money back if it can't verify you.
- You need to be 18 or older, have used the Business app for a while, have sent messages recently, and have a profile name and picture.
- The subscription renews monthly through your app store. Changing your phone number cancels it, and it can't be moved to another account.
- Paying doesn't guarantee the badge, and Meta can remove it later. Government and political organizations aren't eligible.
The Official Business Account for the WhatsApp Business API
Businesses on the WhatsApp Business API get the same blue checkmark by becoming an Official Business Account. Meta doesn't charge for it. Request it in WhatsApp Manager, under your phone number's profile, once you meet all of these:
- Your business is verified with Meta.
- The number has been on the API for at least 30 days.
- Two-step verification is on, and your display name is approved.
- You follow WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy.
If Meta says no, you can ask again after 30 days. Official Business Accounts also appear when people search for a business in WhatsApp; other API numbers don't. Read how the API works in WhatsApp Business API.
Can a personal WhatsApp account get verified?
No. Meta Verified on WhatsApp is only for businesses, through the WhatsApp Business app, and the Official Business Account is only for the API. There's no way to buy a badge for a personal account.
Is the badge worth it?
If people copy your business on WhatsApp, or customers hesitate to message a number they don't know, the badge and impersonation protection help. If not, answering fast does more for trust: MuChat answers WhatsApp messages straight away, on the API, where the badge is free once you qualify. See WhatsApp chatbot.
