Who can go live

You need a public account with at least 1,000 followers. New accounts, and accounts with content removed for breaking the Community Standards, may not be able to go live. Live is off by default for teen accounts.

How to start a live video

  1. 01Swipe right anywhere in your feed and scroll to Live.
  2. 02Tap Add a title if you want one.
  3. 03Tap Go live. The viewer count shows at the top and comments at the bottom.
  4. 04When you're done, tap the close button and End Now. You can then share the video to your profile.

While you're live you can pin a comment, turn comments off, and turn off requests to join. Your keyword filters apply to live comments too.

Bring in guests

You can invite up to three guests into a live room, or viewers can ask to join. Guests have to follow you. Remove someone with the X on their video frame.

Schedule a live video

Open Live, tap Schedule, add a title and start time, then tap Schedule live video. You can schedule from 1 hour to 90 days ahead and share it as a post or story so people can set a reminder. Instagram reminds you 24 hours and 15 minutes before, and you can change the start time until 45 minutes before it begins.

Turn comments into conversations

MuChat answers Instagram comments, story replies and DMs automatically. The Free plan needs no card.
