Instagram QR code questions
How do I get a QR code for my Instagram?
Type your username above and download the code. Instagram also has one built in: on your profile, tap Share profile to see your QR code. This tool adds two things the app's code doesn't: a code that opens a DM with you, and an SVG file that prints sharp at any size.
What's the difference between a profile code and a DM code?
A profile code opens your profile, where people can follow you or look around. A DM code (an ig.me link) opens a chat with you straight away, which is better when you want questions, bookings or orders: on packaging, a menu or a shop counter.
Why doesn't the DM code open on my computer?
Meta's ig.me links only open in the Instagram app on a phone; Instagram on the web doesn't support them. Profile codes work everywhere.
Do Instagram QR codes expire?
No. The code holds a plain link to your username, so it works for as long as the username does. If you change your username, make a new code: the old one points at the old name.
Can I see how many people scanned it?
Not with a plain code. In DM mode you can add a tracking tag, which Meta passes to messaging tools when the chat opens. MuChat's own QR codes count scans and the people who message, and start a different reply for each code.
Is it free, and do you store my username?
It's free, with no account. The link and QR code are made in your browser: nothing is sent to MuChat.
