Instagram’s official messaging API exists so businesses can automate their DMs, and MuChat uses it. You connect through Instagram’s own login, and we never see your password. MuChat only answers people who contacted you first, and it stays within Instagram’s rules: one private reply to a comment, then the 24-hour window once they write back. What you send still has to follow Instagram’s community guidelines. MuChat is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta.

Use Instagram comment automation. Create a comment automation, choose every post or just the ones you pick, and set a keyword. Then put the keyword in your caption: “Comment LINK and I’ll send it to you.” Each matching comment gets a private DM, usually a short message with a button, because Instagram allows one private reply per comment. One tap opens the conversation and sends the link. You can post a public reply under the comment too.

Yes. Comment automations treat posts and reels the same. Story replies and story mentions each have their own trigger. Comments on your Instagram Lives have their own trigger too, and get a private DM, because Instagram doesn’t allow public replies under Live comments.

Start from the “Recognise questions in DM” template. It listens for words like “price”, “shipping” and “cost”, sends price and shipping questions to their own answers and hands anything else it catches to your team. In the Flow Builder you can add buttons, ask for an email or branch on whether someone follows you. Think of it as an Instagram DM bot for your most common questions. AI replies that answer from your own facts are coming soon.

No. Automations only answer people who commented, replied to your story, mentioned you in theirs, tapped your link, QR code or ad, or messaged you. Nothing built on Instagram’s rules can send cold DMs. A follow on its own doesn’t start a conversation in MuChat today, so put a comment keyword in your caption instead.

Not to people who haven’t written to you. Inside a conversation, yes: a Flow Builder delay (from a minute to 30 days, or until a time of day) or a sequence sends the follow-up later. If Instagram’s 24-hour window has closed by then, a Flow Builder delay holds the message for up to a week until they write again, and a sequence step waits until they do. Broadcasts can be scheduled too, and they reach whoever is inside the 24-hour window when they go out.

Check four things. Is the automation live? Are you testing from another account? MuChat ignores comments from your own account. Does the keyword match as a whole word? “link” won’t fire on “linkedin”, and exact DM matches count punctuation. Did another live automation match first? The first match wins, and MuChat warns you about clashes. Settings → Logs shows what happened to your latest comments and DMs, and why.

Up to 20 per trigger, and emoji work too. For DMs you can also require an exact match, so only a message that says just “PRICE” starts it.

Yes. Every automated conversation lands in your shared inbox, where you can answer inside Instagram’s 24-hour window, and replies you type in the Instagram app show up in the same thread. Pause automation for one person and no automation, sequence or follow-up reaches them until you resume it, unless you start one for them by hand. Broadcasts you send can still reach them.

Instagram automation means software doing repetitive Instagram work for you.
