WhatsApp link generator

Create a wa.me link that opens a chat with your number, with a message already typed, and a QR code to print. Free, no login, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

Type it the way you'd dial it at home; the country code is added for you. Starting with + uses the number exactly as typed.

It appears in their chat box, ready to send. Want bold or a list? Use the WhatsApp text formatter.0/1000

Your WhatsApp link

Type a number, a message, or both, and your link and QR code appear here.

How it works

The three kinds of WhatsApp link

All three are WhatsApp's own click-to-chat format. The number is the full international number with no +, spaces, brackets or leading 0, and the message is URL-encoded.

WhatsApp link formats
Chat with a numberhttps://wa.me/5511987654321
Chat with a message ready to sendhttps://wa.me/5511987654321?text=Hi%21

Using it

Where to put your WhatsApp link

  • Instagram and TikTok bio

Put the link in your bio or as a contact button, so followers can message you in one tap.

  • Your website

Add it to a “Chat with us” button or your contact page. On a computer it opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app.

  • Print

Put the QR code on packaging, menus, flyers, receipts and the shop counter.

  • Ads

Use it in any ad that links to a URL, or run Meta's click-to-WhatsApp ads, which open the chat directly.

  • Email and invoices

A link in your signature or on an invoice gives customers a quicker way to ask than replying by email.

  • Stories and posts

Add the link sticker to a story, or tell people to scan the code from another phone.

FAQ

WhatsApp link questions

How do I create a WhatsApp link?

Pick your country, type your WhatsApp number and, if you like, the message people should start with. The tool builds a link like wa.me/5511987654321 and a QR code. Anyone who taps the link or scans the code gets a chat with you, without saving your number first.

What is a wa.me link?

wa.me is WhatsApp's own short address for click to chat. wa.me/ followed by a full international number opens a chat with that number; adding ?text= puts a message in the chat box, ready to send.

Does it work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. Links work the same for WhatsApp, the WhatsApp Business app and numbers on the WhatsApp Business Platform.

Why does WhatsApp say the number isn't on WhatsApp?

Usually the country code is wrong or doubled, or a 0 the number doesn't need was left in. Check the number shown in the link: it should be the country code followed by the number you'd dial at home, without its leading 0. The number also has to have a WhatsApp account.

Can I change the message later?

The message is part of the link, so a new message means a new link and a new QR code. If you've printed the code, keep the message general, like “Hi, I'd like to know more”.

Can I make a link without a phone number?

Yes. Leave the number empty and type a message: the link opens WhatsApp with your message and lets the person pick who to send it to. It's handy for “share this with a friend”.

Is it free, and do you store my number?

It's free, with no account. The link and QR code are made in your browser: your number and message are never sent to MuChat.
