You add a link to an Instagram story with the link sticker. When someone taps it, Instagram opens the website. Any account can use it; there's no follower minimum any more.
Add a link sticker
- 01Open the story camera and take or choose a photo or video.
- 02Tap the Stickers icon at the top of the screen.
- 03Choose Link.
- 04Paste or type the web address. You can also change the text the sticker shows, for example "Get the recipe".
- 05Tap Done, drag the sticker where people will see it, and share your story.
Get more people to tap it
- Say what they get. "Free checklist" or "20% off today" gets more taps than a bare web address.
- Keep it clear of the edges. The reply bar at the bottom and your name at the top cover parts of the screen.
- Point at it. A short line of text or an arrow next to the sticker helps people notice it's tappable.
- Use one link per story. Several links compete with each other.
When people won't leave Instagram: send the link by DM
Many people watch stories without tapping anything. An alternative is to ask them to reply to your story with a word, then send the link straight to their DMs. The link waits in their inbox, and you can keep the conversation going. MuChat does this automatically: see story reply template.
Your story insights show how many people tapped the link. For the right size for a story, see Instagram story size, and to put a reel in your story, see how to add a reel to your story.
Turn comments into conversations
