To see who viewed your Instagram story, open your story and swipe up. You'll see the number of views and the usernames of the people who watched each photo or video. Only you can see this list.
After the story disappears
Stories disappear after 24 hours, but you can still see who viewed one for up to 48 hours after you posted it:
- 01Go to your profile and tap the menu in the top right.
- 02Tap Archive.
- 03Open the story and swipe up.
Why the numbers don't match
- The view count includes replays, so it can be higher than the number of names when someone watches more than once.
- People with an Instagram Plus subscription who preview your story don't appear in the list or the count.
- After 48 hours the names are gone, but the total views stay in your story insights.
The order of viewers
Instagram doesn't explain how it orders the list, and it isn't simply the order people watched in. Don't read too much into who appears first.
Can people see that you viewed their story?
Yes. When you watch someone's story, you appear in their list of viewers, just as they appear in yours.
Turn viewers into conversations
The viewer list can't be exported and is gone after 48 hours. To keep in touch with the people who are interested, ask them to reply to your story or mention you, and answer in their DMs. MuChat can send that reply automatically: see story reply template and story mention template. For what the navigation numbers in your story insights mean, see what navigation means on Instagram.
Turn comments into conversations
MuChat answers Instagram comments, story replies and DMs automatically. The Free plan needs no card.
