Sharing a reel to your story is a quick way to show it to the followers who watch your stories but missed it in their feed.
Add a reel to your story
- 01Open the reel, yours or someone else's, and tap the share button.
- 02Tap Add to story.
- 03Add text, stickers or a link if you like, then tap Next.
- 04Tap Share.
People who see it can tap through to the original reel and the account that posted it.
Why you can't share someone's reel
- Their account is private. Only reels from public accounts can be shared to stories.
- They turned resharing off. Accounts can stop others adding their posts and reels to stories.
- The feature isn't available on your account yet. Instagram says sharing from feed to stories isn't available to everyone.
Stop others sharing your reels
- 01Go to your profile and tap the menu in the top right.
- 02Under How others can interact with you, tap Sharing and reuse.
- 03Turn off Posts and reels to stories.
Instagram doesn't show who reshared your reel or where. For the right size for reels and stories, see Instagram reel size and Instagram story size.
