Safe zones
Instagram draws your profile name and the progress bar over the top of a story, and the reply box and buttons over the bottom. As a rule of thumb, keep text, faces and stickers out of the top 250 pixels and the bottom 340 pixels, inside the middle 1080 × 1330 area.
Photos that aren't 9:16
A square or landscape photo doesn't fill the screen. Instagram places it in the middle and fills the space around it with a background color, which you can change or cover with your own design. For full-screen photos, crop to 9:16 before you upload.
Story videos
Each video story plays for up to 60 seconds. Trim longer clips or split them into several stories, or post them as a reel instead. For reels, see Instagram reel size.
Highlights
Highlights keep stories on your profile after 24 hours. Their covers show as small circles cut from the middle of the image, so put the icon or word in the center.
